Boston Duck Tours Says to Military: "Come on and Take a Free Ride!"
Twenty-three veterans of WWII have found retirement to be very busy here in Boston. Over the past ten years, the twenty-three amphibious vehicles of Boston Duck Tours - the same ones that carried troops and equipment in both the European and Pacific theater - have transported over three and a half million people on the city's most unique, educational, and fun tour. In recognition of all the military personnel who have served and sacrificed for our country, Boston Duck Tours is, for the eighth year in a row, offering free rides to all war-and-peacetime military personnel during the week of Veterans Day, November 8 through 12.
"All someone has to do is show some proof of service," says Boston Duck Tours General Manager, Cindy Brown. "That proof can be a military ID, your discharge papers, a membership card in a veteran's organization, medals, ribbons, we'll even accept signed or oral statements from a former superior officer. Our goal is to make people from every service feel welcomed and, in our own way, to say thanks to them for their sacrifices."
Military personnel including veterans of the armed forces, active duty personnel, reserves, national guard and dependents of armed forces personnel that are currently serving overseas will be entertained by Boston Duck Tours' squadron of tour guides, also known as ConDUCKtors. These men and women are not only well-versed in Boston history (as well as being Coast Guard registered captains), but each presents the tour in his own unique qualities to the tour, one can ride Boston Duck Tours several times and have a new experience each time.
The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, the nations official memorial to our 35th President, is also offering free admission to Veterans on November 11, 2004 during regular business hours, 9-5 pm. IN 1941, the 24-year-old Jack Kennedy enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his nation. The museum tells his WWII story, including his PT 109 experience.
Tickets may be reserved at any Boston Duck Tours ticket counter at the Prudential Center, Museum of Science or Faneuil Hall. Discounted tickets are not available online or over the phone.
