He responds to the name of Salty Magoo because he is known
to navigate down the shipping lanes by bouncing
off channel markers, pilings and docks. But, there isn’t
anything the matter with his eyesight. What happened is
Salty Magoo used to spend so much time on the ocean water
that when he got close to shore he would forget these
objects were around him and would misjudge their location.
One day he went by a channel marker on the wrong side
and got stuck in the mud. The other Captains rode by him
and yelled, “Hey Salty, why don’t you put
wheels on your boat?” So that’s why he drives
a DUCK. |
